Week 35 Thursday (9/11/14)

Recipe Review
Today’s Recipe and Location:           Angel Sugar Cookies
Found in: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl     Pages:  236 - 237       Copyright:  2009  Harper Collins  OR

I figured out that there are 236 calories per serving, if 28 servings are made. (Please note that the calorie counts vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients that you choose to use.)

Here they are fresh out of the oven!
The picture is a little blurry

I stacked them and they are so fragile
that they began to crumble

Look at that sparkling sugar

This recipe makes wonderful sugar cookies that are thin and light. You don’t serve them until they are cooled because they fall apart. I love this recipe and easy is easy to make. You do need to refrigerate the dough for an hour so plan ahead. Yum! Yum!

Random Reflections - The Glorious Garden

Autumn Joy Sedum

Sedum is a great hearty plant to have in your garden. I have sedum in the front, side, and back yards. On the west side of my house (the hot side) the sedum is enormous. In the back where it is partially shade it is of average height as it is in the front.

Bottom middle are the sedum

The tag says that sedum can grow from 1 - 3 feet high and wide. It loves full sun. This plant has never had any insect problems in my yard, but it can get slugs and snails as well as mealybugs. Sedum does grow in clumps and really doesn’t need much work to maintain it.
Sedum flowers from August into the cold parts of November. I love the sedum in my front border because the leaves are so different than the plants that surround it.

Irksome Ideas and Images

Yesterday, I was outside talking to my neighbor, Melissa, when I was literally attacked by mosquitoes. I hate mosquito bites and usually do not go outside from dusk on, except to run the dogs outside to do their “business.” On that day, I received seven bites in just a few minutes. Oh my goodness.  They bothered me all night. I hate the little critters!
