What the Beck???
Creating a Fancy Dog Bed
For the last week, I tackled a creative project to
be used as a donation to raise money
for an animal shelter called Barktown.
This is base of a fancy dog bed that I am creating.
It doesn't look like much now, but it will be darn cute
when I am finished, I hope.
I began by cutting a piece of two inch thick, NuFoam.
I added a several pieces of Polyfil batting to softened the foam.
This is the fabric that will cover the foam and batting.
Close-up time!!
Paw prints...I love it!
I painted the base a charcoal black color.
Here it looks gray, but the next photos
are more true to the right color.
This color is much better. I am painting the bottom
edge black and white. I have two coats completed
of the black paint.
A close-up. It is still wet, but will dry
much smoother.
I painted the white in between the black stripes.
I then painted polka dots on the legs.
I love stripes and polka dots so much!
I then added little furniture caps on top of each leg.
I like the design.
I thought red was a nice touch to paint the caps.
I used Gorilla Glue to adhere the caps to the legs.
I finished the mattress, and I think it IS darn cute!
It needed a little something, so I made a pillow so it looked more
like a real bed. If I let my dogs use this, they would have
the red pillow on the floor in a minute, or they would
lay it down and put their heads on it.
Dilemma: should I put feet on the bottom
of the bed??
