What the Beck???

This is Snow. She is a beauty who loves to be groomed.

My wonderful neighbor, Denise, invited me to groom with her.
It was so much fun to work with horses again.

This is Mister.  I laughed when I heard the name.
He loves it when I feed him grass over the fence.

Snow is finished and looks beautiful.
She stood still as I groomed her.

 Denise was working with Mister.
Sorry...dirty lens.

She was teaching him to back up on command.

Sage and Sabrina came to see what I was working on for this blog.
Sabrina's blue eye looks red in this photo

 Sage loves her profile

What the Beck????

We get pretty dirty out here in the country

This little bull is a muddy mess.

After Greg helped me move to Kentucky, my next
guests came a week ago Wednesday.
My Mom and Ron came for a two-day visit.

We had a yummy dinner at Colton's Steak House.
It was so darn good.  We also loved it because my
sister Diane's grandson, is named Colton.

This dinner almost didn't come off
because of a tornado warning.
Bless my neighbor, Denise Barnett, who called to
warn us to leave the cottage and get to the
basement in the main house.

HAIL!  HAIL!  HAIL!

This was a horrible disaster.  The screens on one
side of the cottage were destroyed, but they saved
the windows from getting broken. Thank the Lord!

Unfortunately, the west side of three of the buildings
were terrible damaged.  Yes, those are holes in the side
of my new house.  If this happened after only three weeks
here, what do I have to look forward to this summer?

From the distance it looks like a scatter gun
went off all across the house.

Pieces of siding are everywhere

All of the aluminum around the windows is dented,
as are the gutters and roof vents.  Lord knows how bad
the roof is now.

It could be worse.....a tornado could have taken
out all of the buildings!

My brand new chairs were dragged across the
cement porch and have paint scrapes.
This I can fix!

Even though they are slightly scratched up,
I think they look great on the cottage porch!

What the Beck???

My office is set up in the workroom

 My quilting fabric

I'm ready to begin knitting and making cards.
Oh Lord, Madonna!  Do you think I need to start
knitting day and night???

I had set up the canning jars as well as arranged
some of the furniture, so that it sorta looks like a room.

This is a place where we can relax for a few minutes

All of the furniture in the middle of the room
actually goes to the main house when it is finished.

The kitchen area is wonderful, because I can see
everything at a glance.

Thank Heavens for the metal shelves that I asked
for in my contract.

I love this rolling cart for my small appliances.

 My serving dishes fit perfectly

Sage slipped in the photo when I wasn't looking.

I love the cooking island because all of the pots and
pans are in a convenient location.

 Cooking ingredients at a glance

 Gotta love it!

What the Beck???

Moving to Kentucky

After two months of waiting, I was finally ready to move to Kentucky. My closing was postponed so many times that I truly dislike PNC for the mistakes they made that caused me such stress and so many delays.
My wonderful family helped pack and move the boxes and small furniture on a 20 foot U-haul truck. My brother-in-law Greg drove the truck to Bardstown, and I followed with my "stuffed to the gills" van. We left on Friday, unloaded the van and truck on Saturday AM, and returned to Illinois on Saturday night.  I had hired Corvins Movers to help Greg empty the truck when we arrived at my home to be. The homeowners allowed me to store all of my belongings in "the party room" for a week before my official closing. Once I returned to Illinois, all that was left in the house were the larger pieces of furniture, and the entire garage.

My house looked so sad without the boxes.

I have never had professional movers and loved how they
packed my couch. It arrived in perfect condition!!

This was the monster truck that moved my belongings.
I strongly recommend Ace Relocation Movers.
Every single thing arrived in perfect condition.
The only thing broken was a cheap Walmart glass pitcher
that I forgot to wrap the handle carefully.

 It's ready to go!

Since I moved all of the furniture, including my bed,
I spent the rest of the week sleeping on this inflatable mattress
on the bedroom floor. At first, it was great. By the end
of the week, I was dying for a real bed.

I used my two decorative bed pillows to make
a chair.  Nicole offered one, and Paul Mansour
walked one over.  Life was better!
What will I do without the Serpico and Mansour families?

Yeah!  The semi is coming up the lane.

I feel like launching into the song from the Music Man
"Oh ho the Wells Fargo Wagon is a comin'
down the street or please let it be for me."

Everything in now residing in "the party room"
soon to be called my workroom.

The dogs hated this room because we literally
had tunnels to get from one side of the room
to the other side.

Now, the task is to unpack and sort.
I need to unpack that materials that will stay
in this room, and then stack and organize
everything that will go into the main house.
after it is remodeled.

The next installment of What the Beck will show
you what I have accomplished after three weeks
living in the great state of Kentucky.
